Nestled right under the iconic Tsutenkaku Tower in Osaka’s vibrant Shinsekai district, Rokusen Sushi (Tsutenkaku Honten) is a true culinary hidden gem. While many tourists crowd into mainstream commercial chains, this cozy, direct-from-wholesaler seafood spot offers an authentic local atmosphere where master chefs craft exceptional pieces right before your eyes. Operating as a direct seafood supplier, Rokusen guarantees astonishingly fresh catches at remarkably fair prices. Every bite features premium ingredients paired with perfectly seasoned rice, ranging from melt-in-your-mouth otoro to creative seasonal specialties. What truly sets this restaurant apart is its rare specialty menu: whale cuisine. A rare find in modern Osaka eateries, Rokusen serves nostalgic local whale delicacies. Their signature Whale Katsu is a must-try, offering a light, crispy batter that complements the rich, unique umami of the meat. They also serve whale sashimi and karaage for adventurous foodies looking to explore traditional Japanese flavors beyond standard sushi. Combining a nostalgic vintage vibe, unbeatable local value, and extraordinary specialty items like whale meat, Rokusen Sushi is an unforgettable off-the-beaten-path dining experience in Osaka.

Some of the best sushi I've had, get to watch it prepared before you. Calm and warm environment. Great service.
